The Area

Scamander is a popular beachside township on the East Coast of Tasmania at the gateway to The Bay of Fires. Set at the mouth of the Scamander River and on the Great Eastern Drive route, the town boasts wide sandy beaches and a relaxed holiday atmosphere. Scamander is one of Tasmania’s premier Bream fishing locations and occasionally dolphins and whales can be sighted offshore.

Scamander Sanctuary offers a range of accommodation types for visitors to Scamander from comfortable safari style tents to basic unpowered camping sites. We are family friendly and welcome groups travelling together. We were also featured by Lonely Planet as one of their "Top Picks" in 2015.
